Chey was born on a new moon, which her kind consider to be unlucky. For the reason, her parents didn't want her. No matter how much the wood elves didn't like her, they were still compassionate to take care of her until she didn't require as much attention. On that day, she was led and left at the edge of their forest. She had a choice: Go to another clan of wood elves, or go live with some other creatures. Being the equivalent of a 10 year old, she took the choice that was closer: go to the human village nearby and hope they accept her. The humans had mixed feelings about her, but one family took her in. They already had a son that was 14, and he pretty much hated her. Chey knew that, and she did her best to avoid him. But even her existence annoyed him. After six years, each had learned to go about their day with a schedule that made sure neither of them came across each other. Chey was getting tired of him, though. She wanted to see what would happen if she walked across his path. She apparently got no reaction. Until that night, when her room mysteriously started burning and she had to leave the room, the house, and the village. What really got her wondering was why the fire hadn't spread to the rest of the house. But that was the least of her worries. With nowhere to go, Chey had to find something. Somewhere. The villagers had spoken of some sort of group, a brotherhood of sorts, that offered help and shelter to those who needed it. She had just arrived, asking for help, after a year of trying to find it.
